PSD means psychiatric service dog. A licensed professional decides whether you qualify. This site does not give medical or legal advice.
Which letter do you need?
Two different letters. Know which one you need.
Registering your pet with us is instant and gives you a verification letter right away. A letter that a housing provider is required to consider comes from a licensed health care professional, and that is a separate, paid step. Here is the difference.
Registration verification letter
Comes from us the moment you add your pet to your account. It lists your pet's name, species, registration number and registration date, and it points to our public verification page so a landlord, hotel or anyone else can check it in seconds. No questionnaire, no consultation, no fee.
It is a registration record. It is not written by a health care professional and does not by itself establish a disability-related need under housing law.
Register your petESA housing letter
Written by a licensed health care professional for your state after a short questionnaire and a consultation. This is the documentation a housing provider is required to consider under the Fair Housing Act (HUD guidance FHEO-2020-01). Any animal commonly kept in a household qualifies.
The professional decides whether you qualify. Delivered as a digital download in your account.

For a psychiatric service dog. Airlines rely on the DOT Service Animal Air Transportation Form; this letter from a licensed mental health professional supports it. From $109.
Hotels, lodging and other businesses set their own pet policies and decide what documentation they accept.
See travel packagesRegistration itself gives no legal rights. If a housing provider asks for documentation from a health care professional, you need the ESA housing letter.

Housing
What the Fair Housing Act asks of housing providers
The Fair Housing Act requires housing providers to consider reasonable-accommodation requests for assistance animals, including emotional support animals. HUD guidance from January 2020 (FHEO-2020-01) describes what documentation a provider may ask for.
Our ESA Housing Letter comes from a licensed professional who decides whether you qualify. Landlords make their own decisions, and we cannot guarantee that any landlord will accept a letter.
Travel
Travel letters are for psychiatric service dogs
Since the Department of Transportation's December 2020 rule (14 CFR Part 382, in force January 2021), airlines are not required to treat emotional support animals as service animals. Psychiatric service dogs are still service animals.
That is why our travel letters are for PSD travel. Airlines set their own policies, so check with yours before you fly.
Refund policy
The refund policy, in numbers
The full text is on the refund policy page. Letters are final once a consultation has happened or a letter has been approved.
